Deckbee

Terms of Use

Last updated

These terms are the agreement between you and us for using Deckbee. Please read them before you use the app. Nothing in them takes away rights you have by law as a consumer.

Who we are

Deckbee is provided by:

Roven Digital Oy
Business ID 3587482-4
Vehmaistenkatu 9, 38200 Sastamala, Finland
info@deckbee.app

“We”, “us” and “our” mean Roven Digital Oy. “You” means the person using Deckbee.

Agreeing to these terms

By installing or using Deckbee you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use Deckbee.

You must be at least 13 years old to use Deckbee. If you are under 18, you need your parent’s or guardian’s permission, and they agree to these terms on your behalf. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 13, we may close it. Purchases made by minors are subject to the parental controls and rules of the app store.

The terms of the store you downloaded Deckbee from also apply. If they conflict with these terms on how the store works, the store’s terms win.

What Deckbee is

Deckbee is a flashcard app for learning with spaced repetition. It includes the app, optional accounts, ready-made decks, connections to AI assistants, an optional paid plan and this website. The app explains how each feature works. Features develop over time; see Changes to Deckbee.

Your account

Some features need an account, which you create by signing in with a supported sign-in service, such as Google. You are responsible for keeping that sign-in secure; anyone who can use it can reach your Deckbee account. An account is for one person: don’t share, sell or transfer it. You are responsible for what happens through your account, unless it is our fault.

While you are signed in, we keep a backup of your learning data so you can get it back on another phone. Without an account, your data exists only on your phone and is lost if you uninstall the app or lose the phone.

Signing in, signing out or using several phones can replace or remove data on a phone. The app tells you before that happens. We work to keep backups safe but can’t promise they will never be lost, so don’t rely on Deckbee as the only copy of material that matters to you.

If an account goes unused for a long time and has no active subscription, we may delete it and its data. Where we can, we tell you first.

Your content

The cards, decks and pictures you create, or ask an AI assistant to create, are your content. You keep all rights to it.

You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, copy, process and transmit your content only as needed to run Deckbee for you, for example to back it up or to send it to an AI assistant you have connected, and to keep Deckbee secure, investigate misuse and comply with the law. The licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies that remain in our backups until they expire. We don’t sell your content.

You are responsible for your content. Only add material you have the right to use, and don’t add content that is illegal or infringes someone else’s rights. If someone makes a claim against us because of your content or your breach of these terms, you are responsible for it to the extent the law allows.

Ready-made decks

We offer ready-made decks you can add to your own. You may use them for your own learning, but you may not sell them, republish them or offer them as part of another service. We try to keep them accurate but can’t guarantee every card is correct. Deckbee and its decks are for learning, not professional advice, for example medical or legal.

AI assistants

You can connect an AI assistant, such as Claude or ChatGPT, to Deckbee.

We may limit how assistants can be used and remove connections that have gone unused for a long time.

Deckbee Plus

Deckbee Plus is an optional subscription that gives you more of Deckbee. What it includes is shown in the app before you buy.

Free plan and limits

Deckbee can be used for free. Some features have limits on the free plan, which the app shows where they apply. To keep Deckbee reliable for everyone, we may also limit how much or how often features are used. We may change these limits; if a change makes the free plan meaningfully less useful, we tell you in advance.

Acceptable use

When you use Deckbee, don’t:

Illegal content and how we act

We don’t routinely monitor your content, but we may review it when needed to handle a report, investigate misuse or comply with the law. If content stored on our servers is illegal or breaks these terms, we may remove it, limit features or suspend the account involved, and we report it to the authorities when the law requires. When we do, we tell you what we did and why, unless the law prevents it, and you can reply to dispute it.

Report illegal content or contact us about these matters at info@deckbee.app, in English or Finnish. This is also our point of contact for authorities under the EU Digital Services Act.

Deleting your account and ending the agreement

You can stop using Deckbee at any time, and you can delete your account in the app or by email, as Delete your account explains. Deleting it removes your account and the data we keep for it, except copies in our backups until they expire. Deleting your account does not cancel a Plus subscription; cancel it in your app store.

We may suspend or close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, if the law requires it, or to protect other users or Deckbee. Unless the situation requires acting at once, we warn you first. When we close an account, we may delete its data. If we close it because you broke these terms, you are not entitled to a refund for Plus, except where consumer law says otherwise.

Changes to Deckbee

We keep developing Deckbee, so features, limits and how things work can change. We may stop offering a feature or Deckbee as a whole. If we stop offering Deckbee or a paid feature, we tell you at least 30 days in advance, unless the law, security or a third party we depend on forces a faster change. If Deckbee Plus ends before the end of a period you have paid for, we refund the unused part as consumer law requires.

Features marked as preview or beta may change or end without notice.

Our rights

Deckbee, its name, logo, design, app and website, and the ready-made decks belong to Roven Digital Oy or our licensors. These terms give you a personal, non-transferable licence to use the app for as long as you follow them. Open-source components in the app are under their own licences.

If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them freely without paying you.

Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data.

No guarantees

Deckbee is provided “as is”. We work to keep it running and correct but can’t promise it will always be available, free of errors or right for your needs. Deckbee helps you learn, but we don’t guarantee any learning result, such as passing an exam.

Liability

We are liable for damage we cause through intent or gross negligence, and as otherwise required by law that can’t be excluded. Apart from that, and to the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damage, such as lost data or lost profit, and our total liability is limited to the amount you have paid us for Deckbee Plus in the 12 months before the damage occurred.

We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control, such as outages of the networks, stores, sign-in services or hosting providers Deckbee depends on.

If you are a consumer, these limits don’t apply where consumer protection law doesn’t allow them.

Apple App Store

If you downloaded Deckbee from Apple’s App Store, the following also applies:

Questions and claims about Deckbee go to us, using the contact details under Who we are.

Google Play

If you downloaded Deckbee from Google Play, Google Play’s Terms of Service also apply to your download and purchases. Google is not responsible for Deckbee.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms, for example when Deckbee changes or the law requires it. The date at the top shows when they last changed. If a change matters to you, we tell you in the app or on this website at least 30 days before it takes effect. Changes that don’t put you at a disadvantage, or that the law or preventing misuse requires sooner, can take effect when we publish them. If you keep using Deckbee after a change, the new terms apply. If you don’t accept them, stop using Deckbee and delete your account.

Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of Finland. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live.

If something goes wrong, please contact us first; most issues can be resolved that way. If you are a consumer in Finland and we can’t agree, you can take the matter to the Finnish Consumer Disputes Board (kuluttajariita.fi) after first contacting the Consumer Advisory Services. Consumers elsewhere in the EU can turn to their country’s consumer dispute body.

A consumer can bring a claim in the district court where they live in Finland, or in the courts of their home country where the law allows. Otherwise disputes are settled in the Pirkanmaa District Court.

General

If a part of these terms is found invalid, the rest still applies. If we don’t enforce a part of these terms straight away, we can still enforce it later. We may transfer this agreement to a company that takes over Deckbee; your rights under it stay the same.

These terms, with the store terms and the documents they refer to, are the whole agreement between you and us about Deckbee. We may contact you in the app, on this website or by email linked to your account. Parts of these terms that by their nature should continue after the agreement ends, such as those on content licences, liability and disputes, continue. If these terms are translated, the English version applies where they differ.

If you use Deckbee on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you may accept these terms for it; terms that apply only to consumers then don’t apply.
